Difference Between Fiji Water and Smart Water

Difference between Fiji Water and Smart Water!

In today’s battle of the waters, we have new two contesters,  Fiji Water  and Smart Water! Brains vs Beauty!

We're gonna test these waters for three distinct properties:

  • Antioxidants
  • Alkalinity
  • Superior Hydration

The first thing we're going to test for is antioxidants.

So, let's begin!

Antioxidants

In order to talk about antioxidants, we need to mention free radicals.

We are surrounded by free radicals, highly reactive atoms and molecules responsible for cellular dis-balance and oxidation. They are found in the air, electronics, even in the food that we eat.

These compounds come into our body through the food we eat and the air we breathe and start taking or better say robbing the electrons from the healthy cell.

That way, our cells become oxidative and start to inflame. This process leads to a number of health issues and sickness.

So, oxidation is bad for our body, it creates aging, rusting, diseases, makes you sicker, and is positively charged.

The benefits of Antioxidants

Luckily, we know about antioxidants. And antioxidants are essentially a fountain of youth. They are filling up free radicals with electrons and by that protecting our cells from a negative impact.

That’s why we are consuming our veggies and fruits, to keep healthy and stop the negative impact of free radicals.

Antioxidants slow down the aging process, they stop rusting in our body, inflammation, help our cells to get rid of waste and enhance nutrients intake, and ultimately keep us healthy and young.

So remember! Antioxidants are negatively charged while oxidants are positively charged.
So, is your water negatively or positively charged? Let’s see!

ORP Test

To find out if Fiji water and Smart Water are oxidizing our cells, or making us sicker, we’re going to use an ORP meter.

ORP stands for oxidation-reduction potential. It basically shows the ability of the water to reduce oxidation of the cells.

If our contenders are oxidizing, our test will show a positive value which means that the water is positively charged. On the other hand, if they contain antioxidants, anti-inflammatory, and anti-aging properties, we will get a negative value.

Let’s start with Fiji Water!

We are getting a positive number (240+) which means that this water is oxidizing us and is not the best choice for our body.

What about Smart Water? Will it do better?

Smart Water is less oxidizing than the Fiji water and because of that, Smart Water wins this round!

Unfortunately, both of these waters are creating oxidation and damaging our health, but for the sake of the Water Battles series, we’re gonna give this one to Smart Water!

But before move on to our next test, I want to introduce you to my mystery water, the water that I am drinking. What do you think, will it do better than commercially available brands?

Only one way to find out!

That negative number is great! My mystery water is full of antioxidants and completely smashes both of our contenders today.

Alkalinity

We want to keep our bodies and our blood at a balanced pH level.

By consuming sodas, tobacco, fast food, our body has a hard time keeping that balance.

However, if we are consuming more alkaline products, our body has to do less work to achieve the natural balance it needs.

Specifically, our blood. Our blood has to stay slightly alkaline, at the level of 7.365.

And if we get our blood into a more acidic state, our body is going to start taking the minerals and nutrients from our body, skin, ligaments, and joints.

That's how you end up with a bunch of diseases and health issues, such as osteoporosis, bad skin, and even Alzheimer's!

pH Test

To find out if our water is acidic or alkaline, we're going to use pH drops.

Red, orange, or yellow color indicates acidic water that’s doing us harm, while blue, purple, or dark purple indicates water that is either providing minerals or ensuring our body has exactly what it needs.

Ok, so the Smart Water looks acidic. On the other hand, Fiji Water seems to be on an alkaline side of the scale, while our mystery water (the middle cup) is alkaline.

But just to check if this is the real deal, I want to do an additional test to see if Fiji Water is somehow hiding its acidity. By blowing some air through the straw, we can unmask fake alkalinity. Let’s do this test now!

Fiji Water did change its color a little bit but it is still a better result than a Smart Water had.

This round goes to Fiji!

Superior Hydration

We’re going to test both waters for their hydration abilities. And it’s done by a simple trick using a teabag!

If your water is not able to properly hydrate, then why would you drink it? If it can not push out the toxins from your cells and bring in the nutrients, why drink it then?

The water that we're drinking should hydrate us at a cellular level. It shouldn't just sit in our stomach and make us feel bloated.

We’re going to test both waters for their hydration abilities. And it’s done by a simple trick using a teabag! You're probably thinking, LaPrentiss, you should boil your water first, right?

Well, why?

We boil it to create small enough molecules that can pass through the teabag.

Let's see if Fiji Water and Smart Water are any good at making tea, or better say, hydrating us.

Sadly, Fiji water isn't doing a good job and has a tough time hydrating us. Maybe Smart Water is better?

Unfortunately, we got the same result.

But let's see if our mystery water can do better! What do you think? Will it be able to make tea instantly?

See that difference?

This water instantly makes tea, meaning that it hydrates us fast, as it should be!

Difference between Fiji Water and Smart Water - Conclusion

We tested Fiji Water and Smart Water for 3 things.

We saw that both of these brands are creating oxidation. However, to be fair, there is a little bit more oxidation in Fiji Water, so this round goes to Smart Water.

The second thing we tested for was alkalinity.

The Fiji Water did little bit better, but still it is not as alkaline as we want our water to be.

Superior Hydration was our last test, and both brands failed to pass it.
