Is Smart Water Better Than Dasani?

In today's review, we’re going to talk about two water brands, Dasani and Smart Water. Is Smart Water better than Dasani?

We're going to test these brands for three specific properties:

  • Antioxidants
  • Alkalinity
  • Superior Hydration

That being said, let's get started with that first test - antioxidants.

Antioxidants

We are surrounded by free radicals. They are found in our food, water, air and technology we are using.

Free radicals are strong oxidants that cause various health issues by taking away the electrons from other molecules.

Luckily, they can be neutralized by antioxidants that contain extra electrons, and by giving those away to free radicals - free radicals become stabilized.

Free radicals damage all cell structures: cell membrane, cell organelles, and the worst of all - our DNA.

All that creates oxidation and inflammation in the body. So, antioxidants neutralize bad effects and help to push out the toxins, reduce inflammation, and reduce aging.

ORP Test

To find out if Dasani and Smart Water are oxidizing our body and making us sicker, we’re going to use an ORP meter.

ORP stands for oxidation-reduction potential. It basically shows the ability of the water to reduce oxidation of the cells.

If our contenders are oxidizing, our test will show a positive value which means that the water is positively charged. On the other hand, if they contain antioxidants, anti-inflammatory, and anti-aging properties, we will get a negative value.

Let’s start with Dasani!

Dasani is in a positive 230 area.

Remember, the lower the number - the better.

Now, let’s do the same test with Smart Water!

Smart  Water is around 241.

Right now, it looks like Dasani water is better than Smart Water when it comes to antioxidants, but they're both positive, which means they are both creating oxidation and aging in your body.

Now you may be wondering if there is water that can actually show a negative number.

Well, let's take a look at the water that I’m drinking.

It’s in a negative 790 area. So yes, there is water that stops inflammation and oxidation.

Alkalinity

Let's talk about our second test today - alkalinity.

The water that we're consuming should help keep our body in an alkaline state.

If not, acidic water is going to end up eating not only the electrolytes and minerals that we need but also taking nutrients from our skin, bones, joints, and ligaments.

But how can we find out if our water is alkaline or acidic?

pH Test

We’re going to test this property by using the pH drops. Yellow, orange, or red color indicate that the water is acidic, while blue, light purple, and dark purple indicate alkaline water.

Let’s check what color will we get from our contenders!

As you can see, Smart Water looks a little bit better than Dasani in this round, so we’ll give the second round to Smart Water.

But let’s see how my water will test out, will it result better or worse than our bottled water?

So, this mystery water that we have here is very antioxidizing. Stronger than your vitamin C's. It's actually good for your body.

Let's look at that third property and that is superior hydration.

Superior Hydration

The water we are drinking should help us feel hydrated. It shouldn’t just sit in our stomach, making us feel heavy and bloated. It should hydrate us on a cellular level. And to see if our contenders hydrate us or not, we’re going to test them by a simple trick using a teabag!

Why teabag?

Because tea is full of dehydrated plants. So, by adding water to it, we are hydrating the teabag contents, pulling the nutrients out and essentially making a tea.

So, let's go ahead and try to make tea with Dasani water.

Ok, there’s no tea.

Maybe Smart Water will do better.

Nothing happened.

Neither one of these is making tea, therefore, they are unable to hydrate us at the rate that we want to be hydrated.

Let’s do one more thing. Since we tested my water for both properties, we’re gonna test it to this one as well.

This water is able to hydrate you at a cellular level which is awesome.

So, your water should be able to do that. Right now, Dasani and Smart Water are kind of in the same boat as far as hydrating, which means they don't really hydrate you.

Conclusion

We’ve got a pretty even result.

Dasani won when it came to the antioxidants, but by a really small margin.

The second property was alkalinity and Smart Water did a little bit better.

And neither one of them can actually hydrate you.
